Our innovative approach to tackling the complexities of disproportionate arrest rates sets us apart. We have developed a unique method to counteract the 'denominator effect,' a prevalent limitation in existing research. Our focus has been on analyzing the predictive strength the three theoretical frameworks surrounding disproportionate arrest rates; stereotype threat theory, self-categorization theory, and social dominance theory. We are the leader in understanding skin tone disparities in arrest rates. Our methods thoroughly examines the relationship between skin tones and arrest rate disparities. Our methods challenge the flawed conventional wisdom. We were the first to reveal why the darkest skin tones experience disparity but do not consistently encounter high, or the highest, arrest rates. We were also the first to understand the significant differences between Black and Brown skin tones, pointing to the complex dynamics of group identity and police-public interactions that has eluded prior research.

As the leading entity in this field, we recognize the inherent challenges in our approach, especially concerning fighting mass misunderstandings by police agencies and the media. However, the insights we have gained are invaluable and singularly understood by us. We have identified a direct correlation between police suspicion and skin tone within a community, leading to disproportionate arrest rates. Our work has also illuminated the impact of policy changes on arrest patterns. We are dedicated to further exploring these dynamics and contributing to developing fairer, more equitable law enforcement practices. Our research has opened new avenues for investigation, emphasizing the need to transcend traditional skin tone-based biases and advance toward a more just criminal justice system. Our methodologies and findings pave the way for future research and action addressing disparities and biases in arrest policy.
